About the event

Charter 100 welcomes Ann B. Friedman, Founder and Chair of Planet Word, DC's newest interactive museum of words and language, opening in spring of 2020. Lunch will be served, and prospective new members are most welcome. Please let us know in advance of any food allergies or special accommodations. 

About Our Speaker

Ann B. Friedman is the founder and chair of Planet Word, an interactive museum of words and language in Washington, D.C., opening in Spring 2020.  Friedman taught beginning reading and writing in Montgomery County, MD, for 9 years.  From 2010-2016 she served as chair of the board of the SEED Foundation, the parent of the nation’s only inner-city, public, college-prep boarding schools, and she remains its vice chair.  She is vice chair of the board of trustees of the Aspen Music Festival and School, a long-time trustee of the National Symphony Orchestra, and a trustee of the Aspen Institute. She is a founding member of the Downtown DC Foundation. She lives in Bethesda with her husband, New York Times foreign affairs columnist Thomas L.  Friedman.
