Beth Mendelson is a Senior Executive Producer at Voice of America, the largest U.S.
international broadcaster, providing news and information in more than 40 languages to an
estimated weekly audience of more than 311 million people.
She is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker focused on issue-oriented programming.
Her latest documentary, "After Parkland," looks at the loss of students from Marjory Stoneman
Douglas High School through the lens of their parents. Before completing the documentary, Ms.
Mendelson produced a series called Boko Haram: Journey From Evil that pushes beyond the
record of violence to examine the underpinnings of Boko Haram, the Nigerian government's
response, and the inspirational stories of extraordinary Nigerians who are peacefully pushing
back.
Her many other films explore subject areas such as the movement embracing positive change for
women and girls strengthened by global women leaders, AIDS, the legacy of John F. Kennedy
50 years after his assassination, the immigration debate, and Afghanistan's opium trade.
Ms. Mendelson will speak on her extraordinary communication career spanning 30 years and
take us on a behind-the-scenes look at selected films.
