On Tuesday, February 16, Christine Gebhard will join us to speak about mental health, mental illness, and community mental health services. The topic has particular relevancy, given that mental health is top-of-mind during this protracted COVID-19 pandemic.
Christine will speak to:
· Mental health and physical health: the mind and body connection
· What determines that someone has a mental illness? Nearly one in five U.S. adults lives with a mental illness ranging from mild to severe.
· If mental healthcare IS healthcare, why doesn’t everyone have access?
Christine’s career spans 24 years with North Country Community Mental Health in upstate Michigan, where she serves as Chief Executive Officer for this 6-county agency, and seven years as a Sergeant/EMT in the fire service and as an adjunct instructor at the National Fire Academy. She is also the sister of Charter 100 member Catherine Harper.
